Danica Roem

District: HD-13

Bio: Danica Roem is a lifelong Manassas resident who authored more than 2,500 news stories as the lead reporter of the Gainesville Times in Prince William County. Danica’s campaign focus is to fix Route 28 along with other transportation concerns. Slowing residential sprawl and filling office vacancies in Manassas Park are also among her top issues.
Roem opposes Dominion Energy’s power tower proposal in Gainesville and Haymarket and outed Amazon in the Gainesville Times as the owner of the controversial data center in Haymarket when Dominion official refused. In fact, Danica has a nine-year record of calling out Dominion during her time as a reporter and she’s continued to do so as a candidate.
Danica has committed to not accepting any campaign contributions from any utilities or residential developers. If elected, Danica would be the first out-and-seated transgender state legislator in the United States.
